For sale: Aircraft with a unique backstory!

This airplane was built from a kit by the previous owner but unfortunately, due to health reasons, it has never been flown. There have only been two flights conducted by a friend in 2007, each lasting one hour, solely for the purpose of obtaining French certification. The aircraft bears the registration number 76 XQ.

Recently, in 2021, I purchased this airplane and invested in several technical upgrades and refurbishments to ensure its optimal performance. These enhancements include the installation of the original Rotax E-Starter system, replacing the manual handstart with a battery-powered option. Additionally, a new firewall has been fitted, along with a new fuel delivery system. The cockpit has also undergone a complete overhaul, including the installation of a new control panel and a comprehensive rewiring with a fuse box. Furthermore, EGT sensors have been added to the manifolds, accompanied by a cockpit display, as a complement to CHT measurement. The installation of a stabilizer antenna and preparations for the Yaesu 250 radio system in the cockpit, complete with jacks for a headset, have also been completed. Lastly, the wooden propeller has been successfully registered and legalized.

Regrettably, I must sell this project due to the controversial ban imposed by the LBA on French-registered ultralights operated by German pilots. Therefore, I have decided to switch back to the 120 kg class. However, it is worth noting that the aircraft can now be transitioned to the 120 kg class – as originally planned two years ago – by installing the newly available EOS four-stroke engine with 30 horsepower. A comprehensive list detailing all weight-saving measures, along with precise weight calculations, will be provided to the buyer. At 76 years old, I have chosen not to undertake this project myself and instead transition to a ready-to-fly 120 kg aircraft.

Although minor finishing touches are still required, the aircraft will be fully flight-ready starting from March. In the meantime, for those who are interested in taking on the remaining tasks themselves, the aircraft can be made available for a negotiable price of €9,500.
